The Mass Air Flow (MAF).

This sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine, allowing the engine control unit (ECU) to calculate the precise fuel amount needed for optimal combustion

A broken mass air flow (MAF) sensor disrupts the engine’s air-fuel mixture, causing rough idle, stalling, sluggish acceleration, and poor fuel efficiency. It forces the computer to guess the fuel amount, leading to, at minimum, a check engine light, and at worst, black exhaust smoke and potential damage to the catalytic converter and engine.
